Let's Talk Cancer- Western University
Let’s Talk Cancer is a free, educational public outreach initiative held in partnership with Let’s Talk Science and the Research Information Outreach Team with the Canadian Cancer Society for sciences students in grades 11-12 to explore new frontiers in cancer research. This year, Let’s Talk Cancer will be held on May 13, 2021 and May 14, 2021 from 8:40 am – 12:00 pm on both days.

The goal of Let’s Talk Cancer is to create a memorable and interactive opportunity for high school students in grades 11-12 to learn about cancer research from both molecular and imaging perspectives with activities ranging from an exploration of CRISPR and molecular visualization to machine learning and MRI cell tracking. Students will be joined by senior researchers, clinicians, and graduate students in the field of cancer research, who will lead them through exciting activities and discussions during webinars and breakout room activities.

We have divided the event this year over two days to accommodate for as many students as possible, with a different theme on each day. The theme of Day 1 is “Molecular Biology” with an introductory keynote by Dr. Stephanie Zukowski on an “Introduction to Molecular Cancer” and the theme of Day 2 is “Physical Sciences and Medical Imaging” with keynotes from Dr. Sarah Mattonen and Dr. Kathleen Surry.

We are all very excited to welcome grade 11 and 12 science students to the 2021 London Let’s Talk Cancer Symposium and hope that it is both a rewarding and fun learning experience for everyone!
